2020 intro (TSCC and Witcher)

Welcome to 2020, where I guess my New Years' resolution for this blog is to do better with actually posting reviews at any kind of pace. To that end, for today I'm going to post series intros for a couple different projects. As promised, we're doing The Sarah Connor Chronicles for 2020 hindsight, but I'm also throwing in a new series review set for my cousin who requested it over Christmas, and for that I'm doing The Wicther.

She-Ra intro, 1x01-02

Since it seems the Agents of SHIELD reviews are a project that I’m taking very seriously and therefore slowly, I wanted to have something else a bit less involved that I could do shorter reactions to. I would like to pick up the pace on the AoS reviews, but my thoughts seem to take a while to get in any kind of order, so something lighter is the order of the day for this side project.

Starting Agents of SHIELD

Taking a few months off from these reviews wasn’t exactly the intention but part of it was to be expected. I still try and do NaNo in November, and December is always pretty busy. I have found time to try and start a couple ideas for new review projects, but you’re not seeing them because it would risk another Mr. Selfridge situation where I didn’t really commit to the project enough to get very far with it.
But what I keep coming back to is wanting to do Agents of SHIELD; the problem is that I keep wanting to write (and never finish) fanfic instead of review it. I think I may be temporarily out of that loop and ready to try reviewing it again. But I do have some opening thoughts I need to try and get through before starting.

The X-Files announcement

So, new project...kind of.
After season 10 of the X-Files, I started a rewatch, and I was doing short reviews of each episode. I only thought to post a few of them so they’ve been sitting on my computer for the last couple years. Now, after season 11, I am feeling the need for more X-Files, so I’ll return to it. But as it’s been a couple years since I had started and I was only in the middle of s2, I might as well start at the beginning. So until I get caught up with where I left off last time, you get double reviews, what my thoughts were in 2016 and what they are in 2018.
These will not be the same kind of reviews as I’ve been doing. The Mr. Selfridge reviews got to be too big for what the show was in my opinion. I’ll probably return to those at some point (we’ll see how long it take me to burn out on TXF this time) These will be more like long reactions (with some added noting of certain elements) than full reviews, but at least at first you get a double dose on each one.
Except for the times when I go “Yeah I didn’t really want to rewatch this one, so I put it on the background while I did some crafts; here’s what I said two years ago.” And trust me, I’m pretty sure that even in just a season and a half, there will be a few that get that treatment.
So that’s the new project, we’ll see how long this one lasts.

Hell everyone, Happy New Year and welcome back to Tori Reviews. I have not in fact abandoned this blog, though it’s going to be a bit different for a while.
First thing is, I’m changing focus. We’re doing Mr. Selfridge for now. It was what I ended up exploring for NaNoWriMo this year so when I came back to doing reviews it was where my headspace was and I wanted to talk about it more.
You can continue following my thoughts on the present season of the DCCW shows at my semi-active lj but I wasn’t in the mood to go back to reviewing those shows here yet. I know what followers I have probably came for those shows and they’ll be back one day I’m sure, but not for now.
I did think going in that I would have less to say about Mr. Selfridge episodes, but that has not proved true. I thought I might change up style of reviews, but aside from a couple tweaks it’s still pretty much breaking the review into a series of talking points, and with so many characters to worry about my reviews are still fairly long.
But unless I get into a real groove for a bit, don’t expect more than two reviews a week, if that.
( A few further notes )

Welcome to my review all the Arrow-verse project
This has been lurking in my mind for a while and I wanted to wait until after Arrow s5 ended, but the more I did the math the more that just didn’t make sense. By the end of this season there will be more than 250 episodes and that’s not including Constantine (which I haven’t decided if I will cover or not). To try and fit that in over the summer around baseball is just never going to work. In all likelihood it’s still too much to do reviews of by the time the next seasons roll around but with a couple extra months there’s a better chance. Plus with things on hiatus for a few weeks it wasn’t abad time to revisit the early days.
As a note, I seriously considered just doing Legends of Tomorrow during this period until the other shows’ seasons ended, I do have a lot retroactively to say about s1 of LoT, but it would also end up catching a lot of my immediate post s2 thoughts and...I wasn’t quite ready to dive into that mess again yet.
Since I’m not making that change I will review things in airing order even though there are definitely places where that order doesn’t quite make sense, it’ll give me things to talk about in those episodes. Exception might be if I do Constantine; if I do it I expect I’ll do it all in one run to more fairly judge it watching it for the first time, also it won’t really matter since it doesn’t become part of the Arrow-verse until later anyway.
Since I’m starting now, you’ll have to put up with the fact that you’ll have to read my s5 reaction posts to get the full effect of when we loop around and met up with the beginning of the series (or I’ll do a couple extra reviews to include thoughts about old episodes brought up by new ones).
These aren’t going to go quite as far when I was doing Babylon 5 reviews, but will be as much or more than the current level of reaction post, so could be variable on what to expect but probably rambling when I get caught up in something.
Stay tuned for actual reviews coming soon.
